The concept of this piece was based on second wave experimental animation with a twist of urban art and modern music, as Julia used digital collage with abstract images, photos through a kaleidoscope, flashing colours and shape manipulation, along with sound, as a reflection of her passion for music as well as visual arts. The feeling she was aiming for when making this work translates into Ad Reinhardt words, “[it] will react to you if you react to it. You get from it what you bring to it. It will meet you halfway but no further. It is alive if you are", for the synesthetic experience I provide the viewer with in this project, this mindset is essential.

When talking about experimental animation, one is very much talking about the unconscious mind and an instinctive feeling on how to translate music into visuals, therefore this practice is highly intuitive. Julia is personally interested in this topic as it provides the artist with the discovery of the self through the art practice, as well as a healing process from the unconscious mind to the conscious self.
